Avenida Primavera, translated into English as Spring Avenue is the name of a busy avenue in Lima, Peru. It is perpendicular to the Pan-American Highway (South), the main road connecting the Peruvian coast. The Puente Primavera (Primavera bridge) is the crossing point between the two, a meeting point of abundant cars, high levels of carbon dioxide, street vendors, buses, and jaladores (people that call the routes of the buses), multi-modal robberies, passengers, and pedestrians. The Primavera Bridge is anything but beautiful. It is, perhaps, the most infertile thing that bears the name "Primavera". Nothing blooms there, everything is cement and noise.
This piece takes up a monotonous motif that symbolizes the routine passage of many Limeños along this road. Through repetition, it turns it into a different landscape, dreamlike and fertile, a rehearsal of what could be happening in the imaginations of the passengers who, during their journey, with bored faces, continue to look at the surroundings and the sky. This melody is superimposed on samples of field recordings taken from the bridge and its surroundings (birds, churches, streets) that fade into an overwhelming and ominous presence of noise. Everything that can sprout from this spring seems to be heading towards being swallowed up in a haze of noise. However, it could be seen (or heard, rather), as a sign of the fertility of noise as a place of high entropy that roars latently as the heart of a concrete city. This noise can be heard as the force of manifestation of all the things that coexist there, of an ecosystem that, however gray it may be, does not cease to be fertile.
